2018: Top Notch Axe Throwing

On New Year’s Eve 2018 my son and I went to Top Notch Axe Throwing in St. Louis, Missouri. I am not sure if this is becoming a thing across the whole country – but if you have an axe throwing place near you I would suggest trying it out. I think that it was more fun that bowling. There are several different games that you can play against your friends – but we just spent most of our time trying to hit the bullseye! After about 10 minutes both of us were pretty good.

I used a photographic paper of wooden boards for the background to mimic the wooden slates that the targets were painted on. I used my Cricut Machine to cut out the axes, and to create the target that is on the page. I did this by centering a series of increasing size circles on the mat and then cut them all out. I still have the pieces from the rest of this cut that I will use on some other project at some point.

I chose not to border any of the photographs as I wanted maximum exposure of the background paper, but also because the location is industrial and unfinished and I wanted the page to have this same feel.
