2023: Upward Bound Trip – Boston

This is the first scrapbook spread of our trip to Boston and New York. While the pictures in this spread are not in chronological order, they create a perfect introductory subtitle page for this part of the album, highlighting our visit to Boston. The photos feature a wall near Faneuil Hall, which you can see in the background. This was our first stop on a four-day whirlwind adventure.
For the design, I chose a background paper with wooden slats to complement the texture of the sign in the pictures. I selected brown and gray as the matting colors for the letters, reflecting the primary tones in the photos. To add visual variety, I included two versions of the picture: one zoomed in to show us more closely and another showcasing the buildings in the background. I also added the date to help place this trip in time, giving the spread a sense of context.
The entire design was created in Cricut Design Space and brought to life using my Cricut Maker. To ensure the matting was the right size, I used a 24×12 mat for cutting. The most challenging aspect of this project was recreating the “Boston” lettering to match the sign in the pictures. I found a font that was close and adjusted it, creating an outline to achieve the thin lettering you see here. Interestingly, the leftover letters from the cutout will feature in another project in my yearly album, serving as a reference to this dedicated trip album.
