Spaceship Earth After Dark: A Nighttime Glow Worth Scrapping
There’s something absolutely magical about EPCOT at night—and nothing captures that feeling quite like Spaceship Earth bathed in color and light. As the sun sets and the park transitions into evening, this iconic geodesic sphere becomes more than just the symbol of EPCOT—it becomes a canvas. Thousands of programmable LED lights shimmer, dance, and pulse across its surface in a stunning nighttime display known as Beacons of Magic. Paired with musical scores and sometimes seasonal themes, the effect is both futuristic and poetic, reminding guests of EPCOT’s vision: a celebration of innovation, culture, and the shared wonder of humanity. Whether you’re watching from the front entrance or catching a distant glimpse from across the lagoon, Spaceship Earth at night is nothing short of breathtaking.
After we took in this incredible show of light and color, I knew I had to create a dedicated scrapbook spread to honor the moment. I captured some beautiful photos as we were leaving the park, and they feature rich purple and blue hues—so that became the color theme for the layout. The right-hand page showcases four of those nighttime shots, bordered with a layered, double torn-edge design that gives the spread depth and texture. On the left-hand page, I added a large Spaceship Earth graphic that I purchased on Etsy and cut as big as possible with my Cricut Maker. Let me tell you—cutting that file was a process! It took forever, and if you look closely, you’ll see a few places where the cuts didn’t land perfectly… but after all that effort, I wasn’t about to run it again!
The focal photo on the left side is a professional shot of us taken at the end of the day. And yes, if you’re wondering—Princess Aurora is helping cover up someone in the picture that we chose not to include in the album. It’s a small detail, but it worked out beautifully and kept the page balanced with both elegance and sentiment.
