2022: Precious Moments Chapel 2

On the way back from our Homecoming at Greenville University we decided to stop and see the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. My mother has enjoyed the Precious Moments figurines and so I knew that she would enjoy stopping to see it.
This is the second spread of two that I made to commemorate this visit and I chose to keep the pages simple in order to draw the eye of the viewer into the details in the pictures. I designed the layout using Cricut Design Space and then cut out all of the pieces using my Cricut Machine. The Precious Moments Chapel logo I was able to find online and import into Cricut Design Space and I used the draw feature to draw that onto the cloud.
I used an ink pad to add color to the cloud, and then created definition by using a purple marker to outline the clouds. I chose this pink and purple cloud color scheme based on the painting on the ceiling of the chapel that you can see on the left-hand page.
All of these pictures are from inside the chapel: the front of the chapel, side walls and the ceiling. You can see a small blue angel face that I have put on the top of the left-hand page. This is a character with a story, which Sam Butcher (the artist) shares:
“I left a reminder of my belief it was only God’s grace that allowed me to finish the ceiling, in the form of a painted blue angel. I’d been working 18 to 20 hours a day for weeks and one exhausting night, feeling discouraged, I didn’t think I could carry on. I’d outlined an angel in blue and was preparing to paint in the flesh when I gave up and left the Chapel. I prayed for divine strength so I could keep painting and my prayers were answered with a sense of energy filling me. When I returned to the Chapel, I chose to leave the blue angel unfinished as a reminder that this is where the entire project would have ended if not for the continued strength given to me by God. It is also a reminder that God is not finished with any of us yet.” (https://www.preciousmoments.com/blog/history-of-precious-moments-chapel-hallelujah-square/)
