2020: Memorial to Joey – Playfulness

Joey was a very playful cat, always getting into everything! This scrapbook page, from Joey’s memorial album, shares pictures of Joey’s playfulness. The pictures, starting in the top left and moving clockwise are:

  • Hiding in the car on the vet – which he did not like doing.
  • Getting in one of our exchange students’ bag
  • Sitting on my freshly washed and folder jeans – he did this every time!
  • Watching TV – I think this was Outlander, but he particularly like watching AFV
  • Hiding in my room while we were vacuuming
  • Playing in an empty water bottle bag
  • Laying exhausted on our landing after running around the house entangled in a plastic bag that he had got himself into.

I chose a blue solid background for this spread to match the blues in some of the pictures, and then used a blue paisley torn edge border to bring some interest to the page. I designed the matting, title block, and graphic using Cricut Design Space, and then used my Cricut Maker to draw and cut out the graphics and matting.

The peeking cat graphic on the right-hand page is a cutout and took some significant time to “weed” it from the sticky cutting mat, and to carefully glue it down to the mat. If you look carefully at the paw on the right, you will notice that I cut out some of the edge of the photo so that it looks like the paw is reaching over the photo.

The left-hand side mat has some eyes cut out of it, and I used a black marker to draw in the pupils, which complements the theme of playfulness on this page.

For this spread I used my sewing machine to stitch the ribbon decorative border on both sides of the spread, which helps to tie this page together with the other pages in this album
