2023: Sixth Floor Museum
After visiting the Dallas World Aquarium we went to Dealy Plaza and then visited The Sixth Floor Museum which is located in the former Texas School Book Depository which is where Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shots that ended the life of President John F. Kennedy.
I chose an orange theme for this spread as orange is highlighted in the logo of The Sixth Floor museum and is present on the entry ticket and the museum patch, both of which are on this spread. The background paper is an industrial building and a wooden floor to highlight the features of the Texas School Book Depository.
The entire spread was designed using Cricut Design Space, and then cut out using my Cricut Maker. The left-hand page includes a silhouette and signature of President Kennedy which was drawn by the Cricut Maker. This page also includes a picture of the historical marker which helps to explain the background of this page, without necessitating journaling on my part. I often will do this to help remind me of the location when traveling. This page also includes the entry ticket which records the location, date and time of our experience which helps to archive this information without additional journaling.
The right-hand page has a picture of my son standing in the middle of the road where the assassination took place, as well as two views out of the windows of The Sixth Floor Museum, showing the path of the motorcade. I created some cardboard boxes on this page which are similar to those that were in the location on that fateful day. The museum patch on this page was attached using four sticky tabs which are thicker than normal adhesive tabs, allowing for the raised edge of the patch to rise above the page a bit to help it stay affixed to the page.
