2023: Branson – Shanghai Circus

The second show we watched in Branson was the Shanghai Circus, a breathtaking performance that soared with agility, strength, and artistry. Like acrobats defying gravity, the show kept us on the edge of our seats with dazzling aerial feats, intricate balancing acts, and heart-stopping stunts. Traditional Chinese acrobatics blended seamlessly with modern theatrical elements, creating a mesmerizing spectacle bursting with color, energy, and motion. From daring hoop divers to contortionists twisting impossibly, every act felt like a high-flying dance between skill and spectacle. The vibrant costumes, dramatic lighting, and pulse-pounding music only heightened the magic, making this show an unforgettable highlight of our trip.
I wanted to capture this same sense of movement and excitement in my scrapbook spread, choosing bold, energetic colors that mirrored the vibrancy of the show. The background features a striking red and yellow floral paper, while rich red cardstock serves as the foundation for matting the photos. To create a sense of flow between both pages, I used the remaining cardstock to craft a torn-edge border on the left side, tying the design together.
On the left page, a special memorial photo is tucked beneath the plastic page protector, with a carefully cut slit allowing the folder to open and reveal interior pictures—just like the unfolding surprises of the performance. A show ticket, prominently placed, anchors the page with the date, time, and location, serving as a perfect title. In the center, a delicate leaf-vein bookmark, fastened with a brad, adds a unique and textured element, much like the intricate and unexpected details that made the Shanghai Circus a show to remember.
