Why My Scrapbooking Habits Change with the Seasons
You may notice a drop-off in scrapbook page postings from me at certain times of the year, and this article will explain why! Like many hobbies, my scrapbooking ebbs and flows with the seasons, influenced by the weather and what’s happening in my world.
Winter: Too Cold to Do Anything Else
When the temperatures drop and the days are short, there’s nothing better than settling in with my scrapbook supplies. Winter is my most productive scrapbooking season because, honestly, what else is there to do when it’s freezing outside? While others might embrace winter sports, I prefer to stay cozy, flipping through photos, layering papers, and crafting memories by the warmth of a heater.
Spring: Garden Season Takes Over
As soon as spring arrives, my scrapbooking time takes a hit. The moment the weather turns mild, I’m outside, digging in the dirt, planting flowers, and getting my hands dirty. There’s something about the fresh air, the promise of new growth, and the joy of gardening that pulls me away from my craft table. Scrapbooking will always be there—but the garden needs attention now!
Summer: Too Hot to Do Anything Else
Once summer hits, I find myself back at my scrapbook desk for the opposite reason that keeps me there in winter—it’s just too hot to do much outside! Midday heatwaves make it the perfect time to stay indoors, crank up the air conditioning, and dive back into scrapbooking. It’s also a great way to relive cooler moments through photos and creativity.
Fall: A Bit of Both
Fall is a transition season for me. The cooler weather means I want to be outside enjoying it, but at the same time, I’m wrapping up the garden and preparing for winter. Scrapbooking happens in bursts—some days, I’ll be outside savoring the crisp air, and other days, I’ll be inside, starting to sort through photos in preparation for my busy winter scrapbooking season.
So, if you ever notice a lull in my scrapbook postings, it likely means I’m knee-deep in garden soil or enjoying the fresh air. But rest assured, when the weather drives me back indoors, I’ll be creating again! Do your hobbies change with the seasons too? Let me know in the comments!
