2023: Disney Trip - Pop Century Hotel

Scrapbooking the Stay: Pop Century Resort at Walt Disney World

I don’t always make scrapbook pages for the hotels we stay in—but when it’s Disney, it kind of feels like a must. The resorts are so themed and full of personality that they practically beg to be documented. For this trip, we stayed at Pop Century Resort, and I specifically chose it because I wanted to experience the Skyliner. This resort is centrally located, making it super easy to hop on the Skyliner and get to several of the parks. (You’ll see more about that in the next blog post!)

For this spread, I dove into some background papers from vintage Disney scrapbook kits—likely from the 90s—that were part of a collection I inherited from my mom. They add the perfect touch of nostalgia to the layout.

The “Pop Century Resort” title graphic is a die cut I purchased from Scrap Your Trip, an online scrapbook supply shop. It came as a layered design, and I assembled it myself to give the page some extra dimension.

On the left-hand page, you’ll notice a few Princess stickers on the photos. This is actually part of a technique I’ve been using throughout the album to gently remove someone from certain photos. It’s a subtle but effective way to let the joyful parts of the memory shine through while honoring how things change over time.

2023: Disney Trip - Pop Century Resort - Pocket pulled out

The right-hand page includes the actual “Room Occupied” door tag from our stay. I created a paper door handle with my Cricut to bring the whole concept to life. You might also spot a pocket on this page—yep, it’s functional! If you watch the video below, you’ll see exactly how I constructed it. Inside the pocket is the user guide for the “Hey Disney” Alexa-style assistant, which I decided to include for a very specific reason.

Here’s the story: when we arrived at our room, the air conditioner wasn’t working. I saw the “Hey Disney” device and figured I’d try it out, so I asked how to get help with the A/C. To my surprise, it immediately responded, “Let me see if I can get someone to come and help you with that.” And within five minutes, someone was in our room working on it. I went out to explore for a bit, and when I returned, the room was perfectly cool. I was genuinely impressed—not just with the tech, but also with how fast the issue was resolved.

I even created the Hey Disney graphic you see on the page using basic shapes in Cricut Design Space, then cut it out with my Cricut machine. It was a fun, custom touch to add to the story.

If you’d like to see how this spread came together, check out the video below. And stay tuned—there’s more Disney magic (and Skyliner adventures) coming up next!
