2023: Disney Trip – Skyliner

Soaring into the Magic: Scrapbooking the Skyliner Experience
One of the things I was most excited about for this trip was finally getting to ride the Disney Skyliner—something that had been on my Disney bucket list for a while. I realized the best way to make that happen was to stay at a hotel with direct Skyliner access. After comparing prices, we landed on Pop Century Resort, which ended up being just a few dollars more than some of the other value resorts. It was the perfect choice for convenience and a touch of nostalgia.
The Disney Skyliner is one of the most unique and scenic ways to travel around Walt Disney World. This aerial gondola system connects Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera Resort with EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Floating above treetops and lakes, it offers not only quick transportation but also a surprisingly peaceful (and photo-worthy) ride. Each gondola features colorful Disney character designs, turning even a simple commute into an experience.
I actually arrived a day before we were planning to visit EPCOT—and before my son joined me—so I took the opportunity to ride the Skyliner solo just for fun. The photos on the left-hand page are from that first joyride. Later that night, we rode it again to head to Disney’s BoardWalk for dinner at Trattoria al Forno—a page about that is coming soon!
The right-hand page captures an early morning moment: we were up before the sun to catch the first Skyliner to EPCOT. If you’re planning to rope-drop a park using the Skyliner, get there early. That day, it opened at 7:00 AM, and we arrived at 6:15 AM. We were probably around the 100th in line, and by the time the system began running early (around 6:50 AM), the line had stretched to well over a thousand people. Thankfully, it moved pretty quickly and the ride itself was smooth—even if it feels a little thrilling (read: like you might crash!) when it comes in for a landing. It’s all part of the fun—and it’s totally safe.
Design-wise, this page came together with a background paper and title block from ScrapYourTrip.com, which I highly recommend. One of my favorite details is a photo I took later that day—I trimmed it so it looks like we’re inside the gondola, adding a fun, interactive layer to the spread.
You’ll also see a small tag on the left-hand page—that’s actually the backing from a Skyliner collector pin, which I decided to keep because the design was just too fun to toss. As for the photo matting, I chose blue on the left to reflect the cool tones of the midday ride, and orange-pink on the right to highlight the warm sunrise colors from our early morning adventure.
