2023: Disney Trip – Spaceship Earth
Exploring the Past—and the Future—on Spaceship Earth
After our incredible lunch at Space 220, we made our way over to one of EPCOT’s most iconic landmarks: Spaceship Earth. Housed inside the park’s massive geodesic sphere, this classic attraction takes you on a slow-moving journey through the history of human communication—from ancient cave paintings and scrolls, to Gutenberg’s printing press, and all the way to the digital age. Narrated with warmth and insight, it beautifully illustrates how storytelling and innovation have shaped civilization. At the end, guests get a fun, interactive glimpse into a possible future, making it a perfect blend of education and imagination. It’s one of those rides that really embodies the heart of EPCOT—a tribute to human progress and what lies ahead.
This layout is a bit different from others in the album. The right-hand side features a stunning full-page image of Spaceship Earth, and I decided to leave it untouched—no embellishments or extra layers—because the photo truly speaks for itself. It captures the grandeur of the structure in a way that needed no additional commentary. The paper is from a previous trip (though I can’t quite remember where I found it), and I was so glad to finally use it here.
The left-hand page was designed in Cricut Design Space and drawn and cut with my Cricut Maker. The title was done using the pen feature, and the Spaceship Earth graphic is one you might recognize from earlier pages—and you’ll see it again later in the album as a recurring design element. I chose a blue background with white border matting to bring out the cool tones in the photos. I’m especially proud of the bottom left photo, which I captured myself—the clouds in the background add a dramatic, almost surreal quality to the image. To complete the design, I added a strip of space-themed paper along the side to help frame and balance the page.
