2023: Disney Trip – Epcot – Fireworks

EPCOT’s nighttime fireworks shows are a breathtaking celebration of artistry, innovation, and global unity—transforming the skies over World Showcase Lagoon into a dazzling symphony of light, color, and music. Each evening, guests are treated to a carefully choreographed spectacle where fireworks, digital projections, and an emotional musical score come together to tell stories of connection, hope, and shared humanity. Whether you’re watching the current show or fondly remembering classics like IllumiNations, EPCOT’s fireworks always leave a lasting impression. With its perfect blend of technology and storytelling, the show serves as a moving finale to a day spent exploring cultures, innovations, and imagination.

For this scrapbook spread, I wanted to take a creative approach to representing the fireworks. As beautiful as firework photos can be, I’ve found that many tend to look similar—so I challenged myself to do something different. The background paper is actually a Fourth of July-themed fireworks design, but because of its subtle patterns, it fades softly behind the layout and lets the custom elements take center stage. Instead of displaying the fireworks photos as-is, I used them to bring color and energy to the inside of Cricut-cut fireworks shapes. I designed the entire layout in Cricut Design Space and then used my Cricut Maker to cut the fireworks outlines. If you watch the video below, you’ll see how I carefully taped the photos behind each cutout, creating bursts of color and light that mimic the real thing in a more artistic way.

One of my favorite features of this spread is the hidden Mickey at the center. It’s made from the Spaceship Earth icon placed on a circle for the “head,” with two smaller firework circles forming the “ears”—creating a silhouette that’s both subtle and iconic. I split the design down the middle so the Mickey fits seamlessly across the two-page layout. While at first glance the firework photos are understated, the longer you look, the more you’ll discover—the vibrant colors, unique shapes, and the intentional detail that makes this spread something special. It’s a layout you can flip past quickly or take your time exploring—and either way, the magic still shines through.
