2024: Thanksgiving Break – Magnolia Silos Baking Company

2024: Thanksgiving - Magnolia Silos Baking Company

If you’re going to do Magnolia… you commit to Magnolia. No half measures.

This spread picks up right where the last one left off. After breakfast at Magnolia Table, we drove straight over to the Silos, and go in line for cupcakes at Silos Baking Co. Because when your son is in town for his first Waco visit, you do the full tour. No skipping the bakery.

This spread continues the visual rhythm from the previous page. I used a similar patterned cardstock and kept the same color palette so that when the album is open, the two layouts clearly belong together. That continuity matters. Especially in masculine scrapbook design, where strong patterns and controlled color schemes help keep everything grounded.

The left-hand page captures the joy of the moment. Photos of us picking out cupcakes. Smiling. Probably debating flavors like it was a life decision. There’s something about bakery photos that just feel warm. Maybe it’s the frosting. Maybe it’s the fact that sugar makes everyone a little happier.

On the right-hand page, I leaned into memorabilia. I included part of the cupcake box and the brown cookie packet. I love incorporating real packaging when it fits the story. It adds texture and authenticity. It says, this wasn’t staged. We were here. We carried this box.

And yes. Let’s talk about the stickers.

There are two Magnolia stickers on the page. Were they a little expensive? Absolutely. Magnolia is not exactly a discount experience. But sometimes you invest in the details because they elevate the layout. Those small branded touches help anchor the memory visually. And if we’re being honest, part of scrapbooking is deciding what is worth preserving beautifully.

For me, this was.

This spread feels cohesive with the Magnolia Table page before it. Same tones. Same design language. Same story arc. Breakfast turned into cupcakes. Father and son walking the Silos property. A first Waco visit unfolding one sweet stop at a time.

Thanksgiving 2024 was not just about the meal that week. It was about showing him my city. Letting him see the spaces that have become familiar to me. Watching him experience them for the first time.

And if a few pricey stickers help tell that story a little better? I call that a good investment.
