2023: National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum - Toy Story

This is the second spread from our visit to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City in March 2023. In my previous post I had mentioned that the museum is very family friendly with a lot of things for children to do. These two adult sized Toy Story costumes were in one of the children’s area exhibits featuring western themed toys and I knew that I had to get pictures of them so that I could create this scrapbook page later :).

I was able to find the Woody and Jessie SVG files already in Cricut Access, but I thought that it was worth the price for theme considering how well they turned out! It took about two hours to cut these out and put them together. If you look carefully at Woody’s shirt and the stitching on Jessie’s shirt you can see that these were drawn in with a pen by my Cricut Maker as part of the process which I think really adds to the effect.

The background paper came from a children’s school paper pack which I thought was appropriate and matched the colors and designs in the outfits. Something I did that I thought was pretty cool and unique was the borders. If you look carefully you will see what looks like stuffing from inside a plush toy sticking out from the torn edge border. I made this by tearing quilting backing material and then stitching it together with my sewing machine. That way the entire spread looks like it is part of the stuffed toy!

This was an incredibly fun project to put together and I am happy that I took the time to do it. If you want to watch the process of its creation please click on the video below:
