2023: Disney Trip – Journey of Water

Journey of Water: Where Nature Calls and the Ocean Responds
Our next adventure took us to one of EPCOT’s most beautiful and meaningful new attractions—Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana. This self-guided, interactive experience is tucked into the World Nature section of the park and feels like stepping into a living, breathing environment shaped by the spirit of Te Fiti and the call of the ocean. Much like Moana’s journey to understand her connection to water, this trail invites guests to explore the natural cycle of water—from rainfall to rivers, oceans to clouds—through hands-on features, leaping streams, and tranquil pools that respond to your movement. It’s both playful and peaceful, and it delivers that rare combination of Disney storytelling and environmental wonder. Whether you’re there to cool off, reflect, or simply answer the “call,” this experience offers a magical pause in your EPCOT day.
For this spread, I leaned into the lush greens of nature, choosing a deep green background paired with lighter green matting to reflect the vibrant plant life that surrounds the attraction. The entire layout was designed in Cricut Design Space and then cut and drawn using my Cricut Maker. The Moana cutouts were also pulled from Cricut’s library, and the Journey of Water logo was sourced online and drawn with the pen feature for a clean, custom look.
To add texture and dimension, I used a torn-edge crocodile-skin patterned border, which gives a natural, earthy feel, and finished it off with layered leaf embellishments. I used three different ink tones to create depth, mimicking the lush jungle feel of the attraction’s surroundings.
One of the photos on the bottom right of the left-hand page might look like I cropped it just to include Moana—but truthfully, it was also a strategic edit to remove someone from the photo. These kinds of adjustments are part of how I keep the focus of the album on the moments and memories that bring joy.
Journey of Water is an incredible experience—whether you want to get fully splashed or just gently misted, it’s as wet or dry as you want it to be. It’s a refreshing, peaceful space in the park that invites you to slow down and connect with nature in a way that feels truly magical—just as Moana did when she listened to the ocean and found her way.
