2023: Disney Trip – Disney Springs – Cirque Du Soleil – Drawn to Life

Cirque Dreams and Disney Magic: Ending Our Trip with Drawn to Life
We brought our Disney adventure to a breathtaking close with a visit to Drawn to Life by Cirque du Soleil, located in the heart of Disney Springs. This spellbinding show isn’t just entertainment—it’s an elegant fusion of Disney imagination and Cirque du Soleil’s signature artistry, transforming the stage into a canvas of movement, memory, and magic.
Drawn to Life follows the story of Julie, a young girl who discovers an unfinished piece of animation left behind by her late father, a Disney animator. As Julie begins to explore his work, a mysterious pencil springs to life, guiding her through an emotional, acrobatic journey of discovery. Page by page, Julie is drawn into a world of color, creation, and whimsy—where pages flutter like birds, tumblers soar through dreamscapes, and the language of love is expressed through breathtaking movement and gravity-defying stunts. Every act echoes the heart of Disney animation: bold, expressive, and deeply human. From bicycle ballets to leaping pencils, the performance is a living sketchbook of creativity and legacy. The result is a visual symphony that feels both fresh and nostalgic—a hand-drawn love letter to imagination itself.
This was such a meaningful and fun spread to create for my scrapbook. I purchased the background paper and the title block from Scrapyourtrip.com and arranged them to reflect the elegance and wonder of the show. On the left-hand page, the top photo captures the stillness of the stage before the performance began—right before the page turned and Julie’s story came to life. Below that, a 5×7 photo of the glowing entrance title board anchors the layout, while a ticket stub and a small photo of my son—trimmed both for design and to crop out someone not included in this spread—add a personal touch. Since our tickets were printed in black and white, I used gold matting to elevate them and tie in with the shimmer of the show’s visual style.
But the real “Cirque moment” of this spread is on the right-hand page, where things get three-dimensional. We enjoyed popcorn during the show (because what’s a performance without a snack?), and at intermission, my son asked for an extra popcorn box just for my scrapbook! I attached that box to the outside of the plastic page protector and used sharp-pointed scissors to carefully shape the edges of the popcorn sticking out from the top. Here’s where the magic happens: you can open the popcorn box like a flap, and when you pull on the popcorn, it reveals a hidden photo tucked inside—a memory waiting to pop out, just like the surprises in the show. It’s interactive, theatrical, and a perfect tribute to the spirit of Drawn to Life.
