A Sweet Sip of History: Our Visit to the Dr Pepper Museum

This scrapbook spread captures a truly refreshing memory – my first visit with my dad to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas. If you’ve never been, the museum is a fizzy tribute to America’s oldest major soft drink, created in Waco in the 1880s. Housed in a historic bottling plant, it’s packed with vintage memorabilia, interactive exhibits, and soda fountain treats that’ll transport you back in time – one sip at a time.

For the layout, I leaned into a maroon and green color palette, inspired by the vintage Dr Pepper delivery truck parked in the courtyard. You can spot it on the right-hand page in the middle and also in the background of the top photo on the left.

One of my favorite Cricut creations on this page is the Dr Pepper can – I combined a classic logo I found online with an Cricut Access can image and customized it in Design Space. It adds just the right pop to the layout. I also included a fun green pin that we won for the taste challenge – I actually took it apart so I could embed it right into the page!

The left-hand side tells the story of our visit in photos:

  • My dad and I outside the museum
  • Me standing on the glass platform over the original well where Dr Pepper water was once drawn
  • And our attempt at the soda taste test challenge – where we tried to guess the mystery flavors

The right-hand page features one of the iconic Dr Pepper clocks, proudly showing the 10-2-4 slogan, plus more scenes from inside the museum. And in the bottom right, a personal favorite: a picture of my dad enjoying a creamy, old-fashioned Dr Pepper float – a sweet finish to a great visit (and included in the admission price!).

To tie everything together, I used a white ink marker to add bubbly dots along the border, mimicking soda fizz rising to the top.
