2024: George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum

After visiting Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, I took the short walk next door to explore the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, located on the campus grounds. This is the opening spread and the first of several from my visit to this incredible site, which honors the life and legacy of our 41st president.

The George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum opened in 1997 and stands as both a historical archive and a personal reflection of the man behind the presidency. It houses millions of documents, photographs, and artifacts from Bush’s long career in public service—from his time as a Navy pilot in World War II and U.S. Congressman, to Ambassador to the United Nations, CIA Director, Vice President under Ronald Reagan, and finally President of the United States (1989–1993). The museum tells the story of a life defined by service, leadership, and deep patriotism, and the grounds themselves include a tranquil pond and the Bush family gravesite, where both President Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush are laid to rest.

For this spread, I chose American flag background papers to capture the patriotic spirit of the museum and the presidency it represents. On the left-hand page, I included the museum’s visitor program tucked into a pocket so it can be removed and read, along with a picture of the Presidential Seal and my entrance ticket. I used my Cricut machine to recreate President Bush’s signature, which adds a personal and elegant touch to the page.

On the right-hand page, I designed and cut the museum logo using my Cricut, and added photos of the main entrance & fountains, and a statue of President Bush that greets visitors in the courtyard. These images give a sense of the dignified yet welcoming atmosphere of the site.

This patriotic layout serves as the perfect introduction to the series of pages from my visit. If you’d like to see more about how I created this spread—including the Cricut design process and layering techniques—please watch the video below.
