50th Anniversary: Ark Encounter
As we began our trip back home we stopped by to see the Ark Encounter. I had seen this the previous year on my Road Trip and had already made a page about that visit which you can see HERE. While this location does not match my theology, it is interesting to see the actual size of the Ark described in the bible, and examine ways in which things could have worked on the boat.
Like my earlier trip page, I made a six page spread by using panoramic fold out page protectors – which allow for a 2 page title page which then splits in the middle to open up to a 4 page layout. For the opening title pages (above), I used the professional photos from the location and the logo of the attraction, which I downloaded from the web, then used Cricut Design Space to clean it up, and then my Cricut machine to make the cut. I also used my Cricut machine to cut the hinges on the side of the spread, which mirror the picture on the right hand page, as well as make this opening title page look like doors which I think is pretty cool.
When you open the title page this is the 4 page layout that you see inside. I chose a wood plan background for the spread to mimic the boards in the Ark. You may want to click on the image so that you can zoom in to see it in more detail. In the middle is a large panoramic photograph that I took while in the Ark. the left hand side has pictures, and a journalling block that I made for my mother to write on later. The pictures are bordered in brown to help them stand out against the background. The right most page has the ephemera from the experience (tickets, patch, and brochures). I created the brown strap to look like a leather strap with black brads to look like rivets to hold in the brochures. I used my Crop-A-Dile Big Bite Punch to create the holes for the brads. The brochures can be removed to be read.
Second Album: For my personal album I also made a panoramic fold out spread. you can see to the right that I duplicated the one above, but used different pictures that came from the professional photographer at this location. Below you can see the 4 page layout that is inside the fold out – which is fairly similar to the one that I made for my parents, but with a few different elements.
On the left most side you will see a brown paper logo – this is actually from the gift shop bag. I used the same black brads on this page as part of the photograph border.
