2010: Disney Hollywood Studios
Our first full day in the parks was at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I used a background page from the Disney Scrapbook pack for the left hand page, and then a solid purple background for the right hand page. The photo frame on the left hand page, and the embellishment and the page border on the right hand page came from the same Disney Scrapbook pack.
Part of what is unique about this spread is that I used actual vintage slide frames in this spread. I found these when cleaning out my High School projects box – I had used them to make slides for a Science competition that I had participated in, and these were left over. You basically use them to hold the slide photographs by folding them over to click together to hold the photograph.
I liked how putting them together like this make them look like a film strip which is appropriate for a Hollywood Studios themed page. If you look at them closely you can see that some are pictures that I took, and others are pictures that I cut out of Disney brochures. Part of the reason that I chose this was also that I had a lot of pictures of things happening at a distance, so the items were small – this allowed for me to get a lot of them on the page without taking up a lot of space. The effect of these small pictures is that they draw the viewer in to see them and they tend to spend more time immersing themselves in the page.
For the two large pictures on the right of the spread I bordered them in a light purple and used a corner punch to imitate the rounded edges of the slides.
