2023: Upward Bound Trip – Flight to Boston
This spread from our Upward Bound Trip captures the two flights we took from Oklahoma City to Boston on Southwest Airlines. To create this layout, I used a map of the United States graphic available in Cricut Access. I stretched the map to a large size, then cut out just the portion I needed for this design. Using my Cricut Maker and a 12×24 mat, I drew the map with the pen feature for added precision.
The red line marking our route was also drawn by the Cricut Maker, giving the design a polished and professional touch. The airplane graphic was designed in Cricut Design Space, and I chose yellow and red to represent the Southwest Airlines planes we flew on. In the top left corner, you’ll notice two boarding passes from our trip, bordered in yellow to tie in with the airplane’s colors and add a pop of brightness to the page.
In the bottom right-hand corner, there’s a selfie I took to send to my son. I ended up loving how it turned out and decided it deserved a place in the layout. While this is a fairly simple design, it emphasizes the route and the distance we traveled, while incorporating details like the tickets to start framing the timeline of the trip. This spread sets the tone for the journey and offers a visual reminder of the adventure that was just beginning.
