2023: Upward Bound Trip - Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market

Our trip began with a stop for lunch at Quincy Market, located next to the historic Faneuil Hall in Boston. I opted for the obligatory lobster roll—a must-try in this part of the country. While it was good, I have to admit it didn’t quite live up to the hype.

Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are iconic landmarks that perfectly capture the essence of Boston. Faneuil Hall, often called the “Cradle of Liberty,” has been a cornerstone of public discourse and commerce since 1742, playing a pivotal role in America’s fight for independence. Next to it is Quincy Market, a lively 19th-century marketplace brimming with charm. Together, they offer a vibrant mix of history and modern-day energy, featuring unique shops, local artisans, and an impressive selection of food vendors serving everything from classic New England clam chowder to international delights. These landmarks combine Boston’s rich historical legacy with a contemporary, bustling atmosphere, making them an unforgettable experience for visitors.

For this scrapbook spread, I chose a brown theme to reflect the warm tones of the bricks in the historic buildings. Some of the items on the page are postcards I purchased during our visit, adding authentic details to the layout. The right-hand side features photos of the Samuel Adams statue, a prominent fixture at this historic site.

Samuel Adams (1722–1803) was a statesman, political philosopher, and one of America’s Founding Fathers. A leading figure in the American Revolution, he orchestrated resistance against British taxation, including the famed Boston Tea Party, and helped establish the Committees of Correspondence to unify the colonies. As a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Adams played a vital role in shaping the ideals of American democracy. His statue at this location stands as a tribute to his enduring legacy of patriotism and revolutionary spirit.

This entire spread was designed using Cricut Design Space and brought to life with my Cricut Maker. Three elements on the page were drawn with the pen feature for added detail. The right-hand side includes a double torn-edge border, and I used my sewing machine to add a stitched pattern along the edge, giving the layout an extra touch of texture and craftsmanship.
