2023: Upward Bound Trip – Boston Museum of Science

Our last activity in Boston was to go to the Museum of Science, which is one of the best science museums that I have ever visited.
The Boston Museum of Science is a hub of innovation and discovery, offering interactive exhibits and experiences that captivate visitors of all ages. One of its most popular attractions is the Charles Hayden Planetarium, where cutting-edge technology brings the wonders of the universe to life through immersive star shows and cosmic journeys. The Hall of Human Life explores the science of biology and human health through engaging, hands-on displays that invite visitors to delve into their own physiology. Animal lovers can enjoy the Live Animal Care Center, which showcases a variety of species and offers insight into the care and conservation of these creatures. For engineering enthusiasts, the Engineering Design Workshop allows hands-on problem-solving with real-world applications. The museum also features a stunning butterfly garden, where visitors can walk among vibrant butterflies in a serene, tropical setting. With its ever-changing exhibits and programs, the Boston Museum of Science is a must-visit destination for curious minds and lifelong learners.
My favorite parts were the lightning room and the robotic dog Spot who made his way through an obstacle course every few minutes. The top right portion of this spread is dedicated to Spot, the robotic dog. I found a graphic of Spot online, uploaded it to Cricut Design Space, and recreated the image in six intricate layers, which I then cut out with my Cricut Maker. While it was a complex build, I’m thrilled with how it turned out.
On the left-hand page, I included a pocket to hold the Museum of Science map. The map is double-sided, and I wanted viewers to be able to take it out and examine it fully. By allowing the top of the map to stick out of the pocket, you can see the name of the experience location, which eliminates the need for a title block. The large red element in the center of the pocket features the museum’s logo, to which I added a moon for an extra creative touch.
To attach the pocket securely to the page, I used my sewing machine with a star stitch to tie in with the planetarium theme. Additionally, I stitched along the right-hand side of the page to create a decorative border, enhancing the overall cohesiveness of the design.
