2023: Upward Bound Trip – Central Park
Central Park, located in the heart of Manhattan, is a sprawling 843-acre oasis that offers a diverse array of attractions and experiences for visitors. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in the mid-19th century, the park features beautifully landscaped gardens, expansive meadows, and tranquil water features such as the iconic Bethesda Fountain and Lake. Visitors can explore a variety of landmarks, including Strawberry Fields, the Bow Bridge, and Belvedere Castle, each offering its own charm and historical significance. The park also hosts recreational areas like Sheep Meadow and the Great Lawn, as well as cultural institutions such as the Central Park Zoo and the Delacorte Theater, home to Shakespeare in the Park. With its winding pathways, scenic vistas, and opportunities for both relaxation and adventure, Central Park remains a cherished escape from the hustle and bustle of New York City.
We spent quite a while in the park, taking in its many beautiful scenes. While I dedicated three other spreads to specific sites in Central Park, I had additional photos that I thought were gorgeous but not enough to warrant individual spreads. To showcase these, I combined them onto this layout. I chose a green theme to match the lush greenery of the park’s trees. Using Cricut Design Space, I imported a Central Park graphic and incorporated another park bench graphic from Cricut Access. Both designs were drawn by pen with my Cricut Maker after the matting was created in Cricut Design Space. To complete the layout, I added dark green borders to define the edges of the spread and provide a cohesive frame.
If you look closely at the bottom left-hand corner, you’ll notice that the paper is slightly wrinkled and the photos overlap the border. There’s a reason for this, and if you click on the video below, you’ll discover the story behind this unique detail.
