2023: Upward Bound Trip – Annual Album Referring Page
Incorporating Trip Highlights into Annual Albums
When I create an album for a special trip or event, it’s usually because the trip generates so many spreads that it deserves its own dedicated space. However, I never want to overlook that event within my annual chronological albums. To bridge the two, I like to include a highlight spread in the annual album, pointing to the standalone project.
As I work on the main trip album, I save extra cutouts, scraps of ephemera, and leftover materials to use in the annual album. This way, the trip gets a nod in the yearly timeline, and the materials maintain a cohesive look.
For this spread, I used leftover background paper and letter cutouts from my Upward Bound Trip to Boston and New York project (you might recognize the letters spelling out “Boston” from the original project). I also revisited the custom graphic I designed for the trip’s title page and redrew it here, featuring it on this cardstock also used on the Statue of Liberty page. It’s a perfect way to reference the full album while giving this spread its own unique charm.
By creating these complementary pages, I can keep the memories alive in both the standalone trip album and the annual album, tying them together visually and thematically.
