2024: The Edison at Disney Springs
For our early supper at The Edison in Disney Springs, we stepped straight into a world where vintage industrial meets whimsical imagination—a steampunk haven of exposed gears, glowing Edison bulbs, and roaring twenties flair. This restaurant isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. Housed in a converted power plant, The Edison features themed dining spaces, live entertainment, and an atmosphere filled with retro-futuristic wonder. Think Gatsby meets Tesla—with a side of bacon.
Designing this scrapbook layout was as much fun as the meal itself. I leaned into the steampunk aesthetic with vintage-style papers that echo the aged metal and Victorian charm of the restaurant.
Left-Hand Page: Bricks, Bulbs, and Bacon
The left side of the spread features a brick-patterned background that reflects the industrial walls of The Edison. There’s a photo of us standing outside in front of the massive tower bearing the restaurant’s name, a lobby shot showcasing the towering gears and timepiece, and a photo of the glowing stage sign.
In the top right corner, I crafted a design inspired by The Edison‘s logo—a radiant light bulb emitting stylized rays. This piece was created in Cricut Design Space and cut with my Cricut Maker, giving it just the right touch of mechanical magic. I also created an embellishment that looks like a small wooden clothespin—branded with the restaurant’s name— for the page, along with a playful bacon embellishment (yes, they’re known for their bacon, and yes, it was delicious!).
Right-Hand Page: Tick-Tock Tastes and Textures
The right side continues the theme with more photos of the interior, including our table and that unforgettable bacon appetizer presentation. One of my favorite details here is the functioning clock hand I added to the photo of the restaurant’s central timepiece—you can actually spin it! It adds an interactive element that feels perfectly in line with the whimsical, gear-turning spirit of steampunk design.
I finished off the page with metal brads placed across the spread like scattered rivets, suggesting the inner workings of a grand mechanical machine. The combination of textures, metal tones, and warm colors really brought this layout to life.
