2021: George W. Bush Presidential Center – 1

While in the Dallas area I decided to visit the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. I found this Presidential Library to be one of the better ones that I have been at, but it seems smaller than the Reagan and Clinton facilities. The exhibits were interactive and interesting. If you have been following me for a while you will know that I am working on trying to make it to as many Presidential Libraries and historic sites as possible. In fact, I have decided to create a “Presidential Sites” Category so that people can find them more easily.

I chose American patriotic themed background paper that came from a variety of Fourth of July scrapbook packs. This spread is unique in that it does not have any photographs that I took on it. I am introducing this location purely through the ephemera that I picked up while on location. The title block on the left-hand page was cut out of the library gift shop bag, and the picture underneath is a postcard. I have some pictures that I took of this during the day, but I preferred the way that this night picture turned out. I used a blue cardstock to border these items.

On the right-hand side is the Library brochure and the Gallery Map. The map is attached directly to the background page, while the brochure is attached to the outside of the plastic page protector so that it can be opened by the reader to look inside. I used a red matting for these two items.

While this is a pretty simple spread, it does indicate what you are about to see when you turn the page to the next spread which has the pictures that I took on it.

Moving forward, for most of my scrapbook creations I have also created videos that show me putting them together and talking about the experiences as well as the techniques that I am using. So please enjoy watching this spread being created and assembled:
