2021: Diwali Night

Our university has a large Asian Student Association that is very active, and the students hosted Diwali Night 2021 in early November 2021. (Find out more about the holiday of Diwali.) I attended the event and was the guest of honor and had opportunity to share opening remarks with the group of about 200 attendees. There were many speeches, amazing food, and several dances and musical numbers.
This spread has two color themes. I wanted to print out the electronic invitation for the spread to provide context for the event, but it had blue and purple themes, while most of my pictures were orange, brown and red. So, I decided to have two color themes, and then pull the spread together by having similar elements in different colors – using photographic background paper on both sides, and solid torn edge borders. The borders were created using a jagged edge tearing tool. Using solid cardstock for mats behind the pictures helps them to stand out against the patterned and busy background paper.
Recently for most of my scrapbook creations I have also created videos that show me putting them together and talking about the experiences as well as the techniques that I am using. So please enjoy watching this spread being created and assembled:
