2022: Washington, DC - Executive Leadership Academy

In June of 2022 I travelled to Washington, DC to participate in the Executive Leadership Academy. I was supposed to be there one day ahead of time, but my direct flight turned into 3 flights to get there just a couple of hours before the opening event due to storms that were affecting this part of the country. My flight afterwards left two hours after the final event, so needless to say I did not get to enjoy much of the sites of Washington DC other than the walk between my Hotel (The Ven), and the Cosmos Club, where the training was taking place.

I created this spread using Cricut Design Space and then used my Cricut machine to cut out the graphics and matting, as well as to do the journalling on the page. I designed the matting using the “Offset” feature and made it 12×24 inches. I have a 12×24 cutting mat, so I cut the whole piece at once, and then cut it down the middle to fit onto the two 12×12 pages.

The left-hand page has pictures of the Cosmos Club and my name tag for two of the meals which I kept as ephemera to remember the trip. The right-hand page has pictures of embassies that were on the journey between the hotel and the Cosmos Club, and I used a piece of notepaper from the Ven hotel to journal on using the pen feature of my Cricut machine. I used this same technique to write the title block on this page – but using a thicker marker.

I will be heading back June of 2023 for the ending part of this Academy, and look forward to maybe being able to see a little more of Washington DC this time around.

Below is a video I made while putting this spread together as well as sharing about my experience:
