2016: Cirque Du Soleil – Toruk
Toruk is a Cirque Du Soleil show inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar. Attending this show was the second part of our birthday present, as we also enjoy experiencing Cirque Du Soleil shows, and have have seen quite a few of them. Toruk is a very unique experience, and tells a very clear story. It will be a great experience for the whole family.
Obviously, we could not take any pictures during the show, so all of these pictures were taken at the end of the show as it was being taken down. I had to choose blue as a color theme for this spread, to match the color of the characters in the show. I then chose two emphasis colors that matched the colors on the set – light blue and pink.
The right hand page contains our pictures from the event, and the left hand page showcases the ephemera from the event, including the brochures, and the ticket (which shares the location, date, and time of the event).
If you look at the left hand side of the spread, you will notice 5 layers of jagged edge strips. The outermost one is brown and reaches out at the top and the bottom, which hints at the Tree, which is a central figure in the Avatar and Toruk stories. I used silver washi tape on both sides of the spread to mimic the strands of light that extend from the Tree.
