2017: Dr Keith Newman Inauguration – Southern Nazarene University - Personal Album 1
Earlier this year I posted an album that I created for Dr Keith Newman to celebrate his inauguration as the President of Southern Nazarene University.  The two spreads that you see on this post are the ones that I made for my personal album to remember this occasion.  While I used an 8 1/2 by 11 album for Dr Newman’s album, so that letters would fit nicely into it, I made mine in a 12 by 12 size, which is my preferred size for scrapbooking.

I chose maroon, grey, and black for the theme of these pages to match the colors of South Nazarene University.  I used ribbon from a gift bag that I received at the inauguration to create the border on the left hand side.  The stars were stitched with my sewing machine

This second spread contains all of the ephemera from the event.  I decided to make pocket sleeves for the items to slide into so that they could be removed and read by the viewer.  Ir order to accomplish this I first used sticky tabs to affix the grey strips to the bottom of the page, and then I used my sewing machine to stitch around the whole border of each page – first to hold the pockets in place firmly, but also as an interesting design element.  I then used the remainder of the gift ribbon at the bottom of the pocket to finish out the design.
