2018: Gatlinburg Vacation – Iron Mountain Metal Craft
My son has really enjoyed blacksmithing and was in metalwork shop in high school. One of the things that he was interested in doing in Pigeon Forge was turning a railroad spike into a knife at Iron Mountain Metal Craft. Robby Bowman, who was on Season 4 of Forged in Fire, serves as the master teacher and works alongside you as you make one of several projects that they offer.
The experience took about 2 hours and I left my son with Robby to make the knife, and I took time to look at the other arts and crafts stores in the area.
For this spread I used a wood board background page to represent the boards in the barn storefront of the facility. I double bordered the pictures with a thin black outline as the second border. For the 4 pictures on the right hand page the first border is a photographic rusty metal paper, which also represents the rusty metal that is in the facility.
I created the knife cutout on the left side of the page on my Cricut Machine. I used a permanent marker to careful draw a black outline around the end to help it stand out on the page. As with the other spreads in this sequence I put a metal pine tree brad in the bottom right hand page which helps to tie them all together.
