2016: Branson – College of the Ozarks
If you are in Branson, Mo, on a Sunday, then the best place to eat is the Keeter Center on the campus of College of the Ozarks. The College of the Ozarks is a work college, and all the the students have a job on campus as part of their experience. Many students work as staff in the Keeter Center which has an amazing buffet on Sundays.
I bought the two background papers at a local scrapbook store in Branson, MO, (Scrapbooks Forever), and chose to use them for this spread. The left hand page holds the brochures from the campus in a pocket that I made at the bottom. I used a jagged edge tearing tool to tear the bottom strip, and placed it on top of a stiffer straight edge piece. I then used adhesive tabs to put these in position, and then used my sewing machine with a dark green thread to sew the vine pattern along the bottom. To hold the side on I used a stretched diamond pattern to make it look like two pine trees on the side. This stitching makes for a very sturdy pocket to hold the brochures.
The right hand page has pictures which are thinly bordered in green, sugar packets from the meal, and a napkin from the meal which I stitched directly onto the page using my sewing machine. I had to be very careful with this stitch as it was going through 4 layers of materials, but it turned out nicely.
