2018: Gatlinburg Vacation – Dolly Parton's Stampede

Our first night concluded with a trip to Dolly Parton’s Stampede in Pigeon Forge, TN. We had been here on a family trip in 2009 which can be seen at Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede. The name was changed in 2018 and Dolly gave a great interview sharing why.

For this spread I chose to match the color and theme from the commemorative photo album that we purchased at the event and is located on the left hand page. I made the belt and buckle using Cricut Design Space and my Cricut Machine. The orange circle background was actually in my “left over scrap” drawer and came from an earlier project (for the life of me I can’t remember which one). I used a tearing tool to create the torn edge borders on the spread. By putting one picture behind the circle frame and the other two in front of it, it creates the illusion of depth and motion.

The souvenir photo album is actually attached to the background page, and has a slit in the plastic page protector that it comes through in order to open it and view the picture inside and the rest of the album. Clicking on the photo to the right will open up a larger version so that you can see this. I have created a Tutorial on making an opening folder on a page at this link.

In fitting with the theme from this vacation I also placed a metal pine tree brad in the bottom left hand corner to tie all of these pages together within the large 2018 album.
