2018: Gatlinburg Vacation – Alpine Coaster
When we arrived in Gatlinburg on the first day of our vacation it was still too early to check into the hotel (even though I tried!). When I was trying to check in the receptionist gave us coupons for buy one get one free to go on the Alpine Coaster at Goats on the Roof. There are really goats on the roof! Check out their website. An alpine coaster is a single rider attraction where you are pulled on a “sled” up to the top of the mountain, and then you ride a track all the way to the bottom. It is pretty fun. When I was in Gatlinburg for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary we actually rode two other coasters which you can see at this link.
Since the ride meanders through the forest I used a tree background paper. The borders for the pictures and for the torn-edge page borders are of two different colors of dark green to help the photos stand out against the busy background.
You can see one of the ride tickets on the spread and notice that the title block in the top left hand corner matches the logo on the ticket. I was able to find a SVG file online for the logo, and then was able to use Cricut Design Space and my Cricut Machine to cut it out. I used the “Goats on the Roof” ribbon that is part of the logo to put on the larger photos of us on the sleds that I purchased at the location.
Notice that this spread also includes the metal pine tree brad in the bottom right hand corner that indicates that this spread is part of a larger series of spreads of this vacation.
