2021: Celebrating Our Birthday

If you have been following my blog, you will know that my son and I share a birthday. Here is a list of some of our previous birthday scrapbook pages:

For some reason I am not great at taking pictures at birthday parties and so most of my pages contain mostly ephemera from the parties. In 2021 my son and I were across the country from each other on our birthday and so we did send some pictures between us to celebration. In 2021 I turned 50! and my son turned 23. I chose a brown and orange theme for these pages to match the colors in the card and in the picture of my son with his birthday cake.

I used my Cricut machine to cut out the numbers in the background cardstock, and then added the orange cardstock behind it so that it would show through. I decided to leave the middle of the “0” out so that the card would stand out a bit. The card is a musical card (you can listen to it if you watch the video below) and is attached to the outside of the plastic page protector so that it can be easily opened. I did a double matting on my birthday cake photo and slipped one of the mats underneath the brown background paper.

This is a pretty subtle design for a birthday page – but it somewhat reflects how we were feeling on that day – we missed each other and wished we could have been together. So it was good to celebrate – but for both of us it was pretty toned down compared to some celebrations that we have had together in earlier years.

Recently for most of my scrapbook creations I have also created videos that show me putting them together and talking about the experiences as well as the techniques that I am using. So please enjoy watching this spread being created and assembled:
