2021: Disney – Animal Kingdom – Pandora Title Page

This is probably one of the spreads that I am most excited about lately. This is the opening title page for visiting Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This spread serves as the opening flaps for a 6-page spread that is housed using Swinging Shutter Plastic Page Protectors. The next blog will show you the 4 pages that are inside the shutters, as well as a video of me putting it all together within the Swinging Shutter pages.

I chose the color of the lettering based on the colors of the movie Avatar which centers on various shades of blue, and on which Pandora is based. I used a 12 by 24 mat to cut these out so that I could get them this large across the page. This was a graphic that I purchased on Etsy, and I could not split the letters to fit on separate 12 by 12 mats. Fortunately, I had this color paper in a 12 by 24 format. If you don’t have the right color in 12 by 24, you can always put two 12 by 12s down, just make sure that you are centering the cut using Cricut Design Space to cut across the paper divide. If you look carefully at the picture above, you will see that the “D” is cut down the middle and part is on each of the pages.

The Na’vi and Ikran (Dragon) silhouettes were part of the Etsy purchase and were also cut using my Cricut Machine. All of the plants were predesigned plan options on Cricut Design Space, which I stretched, or used Pandora color schemes when cutting. Some of the plans have been outlined with gold markers to add to the design. While we were at the park, I took closeup pictures of the “plants” so that I could know how to create some of the plants that you see here. The borders to this page were created using a jagged edge tearing tool.
