2021: North Carolina Road Trip – Travel through Tennessee

In early June of 2021 we took a road trip from Oklahoma to North Carolina to see my sister and her family. Due to Covid we were still wary of flying and decided to make a 3 day each way road trip. The next few spreads are from our adventures on that trip.

To emphasize the amount of driving that we did I have actually dedicated two spreads to the driving to get to North Carolina. This is the first spread and serves as the opening page for the who set of spreads, and showcases pictures of my son, who was on his own road trip from Florida to Indiana, and we just happened to plan to make it work to meet in Nashville, TN on Father’s Day which was really special for me.

I used a free map which we picked up in a Tennessee Welcome Center to create the background for this page and made a video that shares how to do this, which you can watch at the bottom of this page. I attached the front cover of the map to the page to make it clear that this was a map of Tennessee, and also used a map insert at the bottom of the page to show the entire state. On both the small map, and the large map I used a red marker to highlight the route that we drove. I used a plastic sticker car and put on the red line. The Title Block is from a life memory pack – I used the pen function on my Cricut machine to write the words out, and then very carefully colored in the outlines. I used another card from that pack and wrote a short journal description of this page. I do not usually do this as I do not like my handwriting, but as I was taking this trip with my parents, I wanted to share these spreads with them, and you will see journalling blocks that my mother has written on the other spreads.

Recently, for most of my scrapbook creations I have also created videos that show me putting them together and talking about the experiences as well as the techniques that I am using. So please enjoy watching this spread being created and assembled:

Below is the video that shows how to use create this background from a map:
